35. NANOS MESSAGE

“Is this the hammock boy that I met that magical summer?” Nina thought, still shocked by the impression caused by the sight of a transfigured Nano. She couldn't help but feel a sudden sadness because she was beginning to realize that this was no longer the Nano who was looking for his path and contagious that same desire to search for beauty, harmony, and the true essence of art, but a young man who was already opening his own destiny.

Nina wondered what interest a brilliant musician could have for a bad third-year law student? The contract with the record company had already been terminated, it was no longer Nina, the singer, but the law student, with such a student flesh, to distinguish herself from the rest of the law students, and she realized that she had no other choice but to obey the wishes of his father. Finish the law degree and then play the guitar in the park or at a friend's party. She was beginning to resign herself and accept that this crazy journey no longer made sense.

All he could hope for from Nano was the memory of an old friend, with whom she had shared exciting teenage adventures.

Hidden in the corridor's gloom, the contemplation of a responsible and self-confident Nano, who had successfully channeled his vocation, caused her a deep feeling of insecurity.

The concert was going on, and Nano was giving a masterful performance, while she, always hidden in the dark, continued to stark her soul, and giving answers to many of her many lies of the past.

The concert was nearing its end, with the last guitar notes declining until they were not noticeable. Moments later, the entire enormous concert hall erupted in effusive applause, accompanied by spontaneous “Braves.” Nina watched the scene in a distressing mixture of joy at the applause and sadness at having decided not to meet with him.

“Nano already has everything he wanted; my presence would only serve to create unnecessary concern.”

The applause continued without decreasing in intensity but became thunderous when the director and Nano, holding hands, greeted the audience with a respectful gesture, then the director invited Nano to advance the solo on stage, and the great room set standing, accompanied by many “Braves,” applauded with renewed energy. They wanted to reward the mastery of performing that young guitarist, practically unknown. Nina couldn't help, but the emotion of that image moisten her eyes until she caused tears.

“Yes, dear Nano, I am crying; I cry with joy for your deserved success, and with sadness for my deserved failure!” She returned to the gloom of the corridor, to dry her tears and recover her courage enough to return to the same place of departure, but with a Nina of whom only the name remained and little else.
