7. THE FAREWELL NOTE

As Nano had expected, the next morning, Nina's mother and her lover prepared to spend the morning on the beach. The mother insisted that Nina accompany them.

“Nina, the daughter, don't you come to the beach too? We will return home, and you will remain as pale as if you had not been on the beach.”

“Maybe tomorrow, today I want to compose a song again. I have to take advantage now that I am inspired.”

“As you like; You will know why you do not come with us, but I think it is not because of composing songs, but because you still do not accept my relationships with my boss. Why aren't you a little more understanding? He is not as bad a person as you suppose.”

Nina couldn't help but be outraged because she knew what kind of depraved guy her boss was.

At last, they left the apartment, leaving her alone and plunged into an anguished sensation. She had to make a serious decision that could mark her destiny, but she was unwilling to give up. Now she had to write the farewell note, in which it was made clear that she was to blame for her flight.

He went out on the terrace and wrote on the back of a guideline:

«Mom, when you read this note, Nano and I will already be far from here. I cannot tolerate your irresponsible behavior for another day, and I have run away with Nano so that together we can live according to our conscience.

Unfortunately, I want you to know that I could see on your boss's cellphone photographs of you that shocked me and made me make this serious decision.

Do not try to find me or report my escapade to the police because I will be forced to mention these photographs' existence, and I am sure that no judge would ever give you my custody.

Sorry, mom, but you asked for it!

Nina.”

She left it on the table in the living room. She was very sad to make that serious decision because she knew that her mother would be deeply affected and did not know her reaction. As bad as a mother as she was, her escape would cause her a deep sense of guilt, and most likely, she would try to find out where she might have gone. She would cancel those troubled vacations, but she would most likely not return until she found her whereabouts and returned together again. Would it at least serve as a lesson?

As the hour of her encounter with Nano approached, her concern grew, and her guilt grew. For a moment, she was determined not to go through with the plan, keep her appointment with Nano and apologize. She was sure that he would understand and forgive her but remembering her mother's photographs again, she told herself that it fully justified her escape was full.

She picked up what seemed essential to her, put it in her backpack, and stopped at the door for a moment, looked sadly at the note of dismissal, and said to herself as in a whisper:

“Goodbye, Mom, we can not continue together. Forgive me if I'm wrong…” And she left the apartment without being able to avoid a bitter sob.

Nano was already waiting at the bus stop. He looked anxiously at the side of the street where Nina should appear. He was not sure that she was finally going to the appointment, nor did he want to think about the consequences of that dramatic flight. Nina arrived at the bus stop at the scheduled time. When she met Nano, she hugged him and whispered deeply anguished:

“Are we doing the right thing, Nano? I'm confused. I know I should, but..!”

“Nina, you can go back. You're still on time!”

“No, Nano, I have already decided, and if you agree, we can already get on the bus.”

Fifteen minutes later, the bus started on its way to the provincial capital. When they went up the smooth hill from where the town was contemplated, Nina looked at it for the last time and exclaimed:

“It is a beautiful place, I hope that one day we can return and not remember these bitter days, but only you and I, like if we were the last inhabitants of the planet!”

And she hugged Nano, who felt Nina's sadness, so he understood that it was better to remain silent.
